Happenings on the Hill and Beyond

Beyond:

We received a wonderful blessing from God on the Lord's Day, when Syd was called across the state to fill the pulpit for Brother, Pastor Manuel. The sweet believers there welcomed us and were such a blessing to us. The extra special part was that the M's family made it back in the wee hours of the morning and were there worshipping with us! We've prayed for them for some time, but had never met. Meeting fellow-christians like this gives us many more things and situations to pray for. We want to keep contact with this core of believers as they pray for and seek to win souls for Christ in this nearby city.  I wish we had a photo of the group to share with you here on the page! Thank you, Pastor, Rachel, Elizabeth, Josh, James, Sandy, Danielle, Judy, Courtney, Matt and all the wonderful children who warmly welcomed us too. We're praying for your various family, job and other situations and burdens you shared. Thank you, too, for taking us to the Ponderosa for that long, leisurely lunch!

Hill Happenings:

Summer is wearing on here, as everywhere. Not alot has changed on Darling Hill, except for the new truck the Lord allowed my hubby to find on Monday! We've been praying for this and that the dealer (he shopped around between 3 or 4) would give him a good deal on a trade-in. They gave Syd more than expected for his truck, which we were thankful for. It had served it's purpose well, but we were about to start putting a lot of money into it.

The price was right and Syd has understood that there were improvements made in those trouble areas he found in his last truck. Still, he got the 6 year warranty! We are praying that it plows as well as the last one and that it meets the need in that area well. Doesn't hurt that it's a pretty color either!! No, he didn't change his shirt for this picture - they matched, so I thought I'd take this shot last night.

Syd took this pic the other night. Little Sturm was just "all-in" I guess. With that much energy you just have to crash once in a while!

The tomato plants are exploding here and up at Mom's. My zinnias (I know, you can't eat them) are FINALLY blooming and bringing a smile to my face as I approach the front door. Along with the Gerbera Daisys, they give lots of pretty color. All the perrenials I've planted are white (hydrangea, lilac, bleeding heart, flox, lilies and roses, so far). It was for the purpose of "lightening" this little area where our house sits, as we are somewhat tucked into a hole here on the North side. It is for this reason that the annuals need to get a little color on the scene! and they do.

Some of the Zinnias are still to bloom, they're blossomed out nicely. LOVE that they get so tall!

I'm getting ready for work at the Post office today. What a blessing to work in two part-time jobs right in your own town --especially when our town only has a population of about 630! To find one job in a town that small is amazing, but the Lord has provided me TWO! He is so good to us, always. If you would, please pray for two coworkers, Mary and Dave. They both need salvation and I want to be a good testimony as I spend only an hour or so with these carriers in the course of a day.
