A Wonderful Gospel Picture!

I believe Spring has truly sprung here on the Hill! I will admit I heard little ice balls falling onto the grass outside my open window while I slept last night, but it's still a sure sign of Spring! The bird calls are different too. Have you noticed? some of the 'snow birds' have returned from the South? As I drove along Mud Lane yesterday morning, there were the redwing blackbirds who love to hang out at the end of meadow expanses. The little juncos have come in droves, to the feeder at Mom's. Within a couple of weeks we'll be hanging our hummingbird feeder. I was telling someone a few years ago, how the hummers come right around Mother's Day. As we were speaking and hanging the nectar out, here came one! --whizzing around the corner! right on time!

I have yet to see anything green emerging from the ground. Still the only color we have seen are those bright little coltsfoot along the edges of the road. They have the "oomph" to push up through the toughest of ground. Their fuzzy yellow faces and their perseverance (along with healing properties, I'm told) are their only positive points, in my opinion. If they would stay out of my growing space I'd really love them!

What a wonderful picture Paul shared in I Corinthians 15. After giving the clear "gospel"; Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again; all "according to the Scriptures".

"But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened except it die; and that which thou sowest , thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain; it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain; but God giveth it a body as it has pleased Him, and to every seed his own body."
I Corinthians 15:35-38

What a picture of the gospel we have, every season! We get to witness a cycle of the seed dying, being sown into the ground, buried, and then rising up again in the Spring! How perfect our Creator is in really giving us all things to enjoy and all things that pertain unto life and godliness.

I hope you have a beautiful Spring day. It appears that ours will be a rainy one. Today is the last day of April - these showers are sure to replenish our wells and water those seedlings that are ready to emerge and blossom! Take care, all.

Hid With Christ

As my Aunt Jan wrote in the "corner", the bright little coltsfoot flowers are starting to sprinkle the ground along the roadsides and banks. Their sunny faces are a welcome sight. Until she mentioned boiling them and making a cough syrup I had not heard of it. As many of you readers know, I did experiment with the violets last year and certainly plan on making as much as possible again this Spring! The violet syrup is very soothing and supposedly a good expectorant. Syd does tend toward chest colds, I do not. He used it often and it's all used up. I'll post the simple recipe again  when I make more.

We've seen one fawn so far - seemed early. This is the one I stumbled across in the grass next door, from a few years ago.

This has been a chilling Spring so far. We've been firing up the woodstove off and on. Our water thawed out and we're not having to hand pump the shower, yay! As I sat having my coffee and reading the Bible this morning I just looked around at our tiny little cabin and thanked the Lord for this comfy, warm shelter that He has provided while we sojourn here on earth. Sometimes you feel a little tucked away on the side-hill, but that is why we have a car (and a job in the outside world in some cases), to get out amongst folk; to be salt and light in this dark world. I was reading from Luke this morning, Christ's words to the seventy, while they were reminded that they had the power to tread on serpents; "Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are made subject unto you ; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."

As Christians, our names are written in heaven!! Colossians 3:3 says "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." It is wonderful to be tucked away under the shadow of God's wings, in the hollow of His hand; hid with Christ, in God.

Coco is here with us again this week. The three dogs and I are all getting ready to head out the door to a little office on the hill. I am thankful for the accounting, side-job that takes just two mornings a week. It's a respite from the post office and gives a couple relaxing afternoons to work around the house and visit with Mom.
Yes, Quincy emerged from the snow. I know I should not leave him out all winter; next year I'll bring him in

My tulips from last Tuesday still look this fresh! They are a great reminder of Spring!
I hope you'll journey up Darling Hill this morning. Remember to take the time to admire the little sunspots of coltsfoot along the roadside. They'll remind you that Spring really is here and sunny days are ahead.  Thanks for stopping by!
